Joseph Devine

Joseph Devine ( born August 7, 1937 in Kirkintilloch ) is a Scottish clergyman and Bishop Emeritus of Motherwell.

Life

Joseph Devine received on 29 June 1960, the ordained priest for the Archdiocese of Glasgow.

Pope Paul VI. appointed him on May 5, 1977 Auxiliary Bishop of Glasgow and Titular Bishop of Voli. The Archbishop of Glasgow, Thomas Joseph Winning, donated to him on 31 May of the same year, the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were Francis Alexander Spalding Warden Thomson, Bishop of Motherwell, and Stephen McGill PSS, Bishop of Paisley.

Pope John Paul II appointed him on 13 May 1983 Bishop of Motherwell.

Pope Francis took on May 31, 2013, his resignation due to age.
