Joseph John Fox

Joseph John Fox ( born August 2, 1855 in Green Bay, Wisconsin, † March 14, 1915 ibid ) was the fifth Catholic Bishop of Green Bay.

The so far only bishop of Green Bay, which emerged from the diocese, completed his theological studies in Belgium at the Catholic University of Leuven. On June 7, 1879 Fox was ordained a priest. Bishop Franz Xaver Krautbauer appointed him his secretary. Later, Fox worked as a priest in Marinette on the border with Michigan and as Vicar General of the diocese.

Pope Pius X appointed Fox on May 27, 1904 Bishop of Green Bay. The bishop He was ordained on 25 July 1904 by his predecessor, Sebastian Gebhard Messmer, now Archbishop of Milwaukee. Co-consecrators were the bishops William Stang of Fall River and Frederick ice from Sault Sainte Marie- Marquette.

As bishop he promoted in particular the expansion of the parish schools in his diocese. His tenure also the construction of the bishop's residence, now the seat of the diocese administration fell.

On November 7, 1914, he renounced for health reasons on his diocese and was appointed titular bishop of Ionopolis.
