Joseph Nguyễn Chí Linh

Joseph Nguyễn Chí Linh ( born November 22, 1949 in Ba Lang, Thih Giaia, Hóa Thanh, Vietnam ) is a Catholic priest. He's since May 2004 Bishop of Thanh Hóa in Vietnam. Its name combines Western tradition names (Joseph as a first name before the surname Nguyễn ) with Vietnamese ( Chí Linh as a personal name stands behind the family name ).

Life

Joseph Nguyễn Chí Linh was born on November 22, 1949 in Ba Lang ( Thih Giaia, Thanh Hóa ), the son of Christian parents in humble circumstances. He attended the minor seminary in Nha Trang ( 1962-67 ), the program " Divine Providence " in Hue (1967 /68), the program " Good Shepherd" in Nha Trang (1968 /70) and the Pontifical College in Đà Lạt ( 1970/1977 ).

Due to the political events in his country, he had to return to his family and to work hard for 14 years, although he did at the same time as an intern in the parish Song My ( Phan Tang, Ninh Thuan ) worked. On 20 December 1992 he was ordained a priest incardinated in the Diocese of Nha Trang. He then spent three years as a curate in Phuoc Thien (1992-1995 ). From 1995 to 2003 he studied at the Institut Catholique in Paris, where he took a doctorate in philosophy.

In November 2003 he returned to his home diocese. By the time of his appointment, he was a professor at the major seminary in Nha Trang worked.
