Joseph Rodericks

Joseph Robert Roderick SJ ( born June 7, 1927 in Bandra, Bombay, India, † 14 July, 2010 Mumbai) was a bishop of the Diocese of Jamshedpur in India.

Life

Joseph Robert Roderick joined the Congregation of the Society of Jesus and received on 24 March 1958, the ordination.

Pope Paul VI. appointed him in 1970 to the bishop of Jamshedpur. He received his episcopal consecration on January 9, 1971 Valerian Cardinal Gracias, Archbishop of Bombay. Co-consecrators were Trevor Lawrence Picachy SJ, Archbishop of Calcutta, and Pius Kerketta SJ, Archbishop of Ranchi.

He held various posts in the Indian Bishops' Conference, including chairman of the influential Commission for Seminaries. In 1996, John Paul II to be age-related resignation.

He was buried on July 20 in the St. Joseph's Cathedral in Jamshedpur.
