Joseph Schubert (composer)

Joseph Schubert ( born December 20 1754 Warning village; † July 28, 1837 in Dresden ) was a German violinist, violist and composer.

Life and work

Born the son of a cantor, he studied in Prague and Berlin. From 1779 to 1788 he played as a violinist at the court of Margrave Heinrich Friedrich von Brandenburg- Schwedt. He then joined the viola to the Electoral Saxon and Royal Polish chapel in Dresden.

Schubert was a prolific composer. Were known by him 15 fairs, 17 sonatas and 49 concerts, including the Concerto for Viola and Orchestra in C Major. He also created the opera
