Joseph Warren Ray

Joseph Warren Ray (* May 25, 1849 in Nineveh, Greene County, Pennsylvania, † September 15, 1928 in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania ) was an American politician. Between 1889 and 1891 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Joseph Ray attended the public schools of his home. In 1874 he graduated from Waynesburg College. After a subsequent law degree in 1876 and its recent approval as a lawyer, he started working in Waynesburg in this profession. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Republican Party launched a political career.

In the congressional elections of 1888 Ray in the 24th electoral district of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC was chosen, where he became the successor of Oscar Lawrence Jackson on March 4, 1889. Since he was not nominated by his party for re-election in 1890, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until March 3, 1891.

After his time in the U.S. House of Representatives Ray practiced as a lawyer again. From 1902 until his death he served as curator of Waynesburg College. Between 1915 and 1926 he was Chief Judge of the 13th Judicial District of the State of. After that, he was once again working as a lawyer. Joseph Ray died on September 15, 1928 in Waynesburg, where he was also buried.
