Joyce Hatto

Joyce Hatto ( born September 5, 1928 in London, † June 30, 2006 in Cambridge ) was a British pianist. She became famous as copies of CDs of other pianists came under their name on the market, in the classical music scene were all the rage and have been highly praised by the international music critics. The dizziness flew only a few months after her death.

According to her official biography, she studied with Mátyás Seiber and Paul Hindemith, performed with conductors such as Victor de Sabata, Thomas Beecham, Paul Kletzki or Jean Martinon. Because of cancer in 1979, she moved back from the public.

As of 2003, the label Concert Artist Recordings brought out more than 100 CD recordings by Hatto, mostly from the period after 1990, which - contrary to what is often the case with pianists - is to find a single piece in multiple interpretations. In February 2007, the Gramophone magazine published an article in which it was found that some of these recordings have striking similarities with previous releases of other pianists and may be alienated only copies.

Meanwhile, with new methods of sound most CDs that have manipulated in his recording studio in Royston, Hertfordshire and released as recordings of his wife under a new label William Barrington - Coupe, the husband of the pianist, has been identified with certainty. Besides a large number now more or less forgotten pianists are among them household names. So recordings of Leif Ove Andsnes, Vladimir Davidovich Ashkenazy, Yefim Bronfman, Marc- André Hamelin, Evgeny Kissin Igorewitsch and Ingrid Haebler were refreshed electronically and successfully marketed as Hatto recordings.

End of February 2007 the husband confessed to have released images of strange pianist by the name of his wife. The reason he claimed to want to give her the impression to have got off to a successful conclusion. You did not know about her husband's action. He regretted in retrospect, to have characterized his late wife 's reputation rather than damaged encouraged.

The only previously known self -established by Hatto CD are the " Symphonic Variations" by the English composer Sir Arnold Bax.
