Juche Tower

The monument to the Juche ideology is a memorial complex of the North Korean capital Pyongyang in the district Tongdaewŏn - guyŏk. Bears his name it after developed by Kim Il-sung Juche ideology (read: Dschutsche ).

There is a place on the waterfront of the Taedong - gang in one axis with the Kim Il-sung Square on the opposite side of the river. The complex includes the Juche Tower, a bronze sculpture wholesale, six other granite sculptures, as well as two pavilions and two water games with up to 150 meters high fountains.

Juche Tower

The Juche Tower (precisely: the Tower of the Juche ideology ) is the central building of the whole system and landmark of Pyongyang. It was built on the occasion of the 70th birthday of President Kim Il-sung, completed in 1982 and inaugurated on 15 April of the year. Supposedly it was designed by Kim Il-sung's son Kim Jong- il. By 2012, the tower said to have been visited by over two million people. The 170 meter high building consists of 25,550 granite blocks completed and is up by a 20 meter high flare of a red glass mosaic tiles ( for a day in the life of Kim Il-sung's up to his 70th birthday, one each ). The flare having a diameter of twelve meters is illuminated from the inside by the exposure system in order to create the illusion of a fire burning.

On the front of the tower base is a plaque with an inscription in praise of Kim Il-sung. On both sides of the tower reliefs are chiseled with magnolias and Kimilsungien flower baskets in the socket. They are the national flower of North Korea.

The observation deck is accessible for consideration by an elevator. The 70 steps correspond to the 70 years of life, Kim Il-sung in the establishment. In the arched entrance area dedication plaques are supporters of the Juche ideology from different countries. At night, the tower is illuminated and the torch from the inside with a flickering red lights.

Centered in front of the tower is located on the steps leading to the tower, a 30 -meter-high bronze sculpture in the form of a three-person group. It provides an intellectual, a worker and a peasant woman is, each holding their tool, brush, hammer and sickle up, and thus represent the emblem of the Workers' Party of Korea.

Granite sculptures

On both sides of the tower are three more each about ten meters high thematically diverse group sculptures to illustrate the life force which is to be connected to the Juche ideology. They are denoted as " Juche Industry", " harvest time ", "Land of Learning", " Juche art", "longevity " and " Impregnable Fortress".

Illustration on bills

The tower was depicted as a motif on the front and as a watermark on the 50 won note from 1992. On the 50 - won note from 2009, the torch of the tower is only displayed on the front.
