Juju (singer)

Juju (Japaneseジュジュ, proper spelling: JUJU, born February 14, 1976 in Kyoto Prefecture, Japan ) is a Japanese R & B singer with a jazz background. Having gained his first musical experience since 2000, she made her debut in 2004 in the Japanese music business.

Life and career

In the prefecture of Kyoto was born and raised, Juju wanted a jazz singer and be prepared himself through many different musical activities. At 18, she left Japan and moved to the U.S. to New York City. There, she performed in jazz clubs and developed her own style to develop, has the influences of jazz, R & B, Hip- Hop, Soul, Latin Music and House. To the year 2001, the first co Jujus with different musicians. A year later they created the theme music for the film kyoki no Sakura.

In 2004, she signed her first recording contract with Sony Music Associated Records Inc. and debuted with their first single, Hikaru no Naka e (光 の 中 へ), but was not a success. In the same year she had, in addition to their activities in the U.S., performances in Japan. Their third single, Kiseki o Nozomu nara ... (奇跡 を 望む なら... ), reached the top of USEN charts and stayed there for 22 weeks in the charts, which meant a record for this chart. Since it was only supported by smaller groups of listeners, it was still quite unknown at this time.

On 13 August 2008 she published, with the Japanese group Spontania, a collaboration single which was called Kimi no Subete ni (君 の すべて に). Hereby it debuted at number 7 on the Oricon charts and was also known in the Japanese music industry. They also allowed the song more than 2.5 million copies, digital sell in Japan. On 26 November 2008 she put together with Spontania another single before: Sunao ni Naretara (素直 に なれ たら) could enter at number 6 on the Oricon charts and was down loaded up to 2.2 million times legal download. Since 2007 she has presented a number of albums that request in Japan, reached double platinum.

Currently Juju lives in New York City.
