Jukka Tolonen

Jukka Tolonen ( born April 16, 1952 in Helsinki) is a Finnish jazz guitarist.

Tolonen became known as the guitarist for the jazz-rock band Tasavallan Presidentti ( " The President of the Republic" ), in which the well-known Finnish jazz saxophonist Juhani Aaltonen, bassist Måns Groundstroem, the singer Frank Robson and drummer Vesa Aaltonen played. Tasavallan Presidentti is probably the best-known Finnish jazz - rock band.

Life

Tolonen had in 1969 first at age 17 appearances with Tasavallan Presidentti, but also took on two albums with the band Wigwam. He became known as a virtuoso guitarist, especially in Scandinavia through this work.

Over time, he collaborated with several other fusion - oriented bands like Guitarras Del Norte, Trio Tolonen, Jukka Tolonen and the band.

2006 brought Tolonen the far last album of Tasavallan Presidentti, "Six Complete" out as well as a solo album with pieces by John Coltrane, "Cool Train".
