Jules Develle

Jules Paul Develle ( born August 12, 1845 in Bar-le- Duc, Meuse, † October 30th 1919 in Paris) was a French politician in the Third Republic.

Jules Develle, brother Edmond Develles, went to study in his birthplace of Bar-le- Duc as a lawyer in Paris and embarked on a political career, when he was secretary Jules Grévy. In 1872 he took over the office of the sub-prefect in Louviers, four years later he was prefect of the Aube. 1877 dismissed by the government of May 16 1877 by this office, he ran in October of the same year successfully for the seat of the arrondissement of Louviers in the Chamber of Deputies and was until 1898 when the next elections always a seat ( from 1885 for the department of Meuse).

As a supporter of the republican left in the chamber Develle was appointed on 18 February 1879 Undersecretary of State at the Home Office, he was soon dismissed already on March 4, 1879. After his re-election to the Chamber of Deputies he took 1882-1893, characteristic of the Third Republic, changing positions in various governments only briefly existing one. Most of the time in government, he headed the Ministry of Agriculture and represented a protectionist course, 1893 was Develle in two governments foreign minister.

In the elections to the Chamber of Deputies on 8 and 22 May 1898 Develle could not prevail against Henry Ferrette, lost his seat in Parliament and became a consultant at the Paris Court of Appeal. In 1910 he was again a member of Parliament, when he got a seat in the Senate, where devoted primarily on agriculture.
