Julian Gbur

Julian Gbur, SVD (Ukrainian Ґбур Юліян ) ( born November 14, 1942 in Brzezawa; † 24 March 2011) was a Polish bishop of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church of Stry.

Life

Julian Gbur joined the Congregation of the Divine Word Missionaries and received on June 21, 1970, ordained priest by Archbishop Curia Adam Kozlowiecki SJ.

On 21 February 1994 he was elected by the Holy Synod appointed auxiliary bishop in Lviv. Pope John Paul II appointed him on 30 March 1994 as Titular Bishop of Bareta and confirmed the election of the Bishop in the archeparchy Lviv of the Ukrainians. The episcopal ordination on 7 July 1994 gave him the Metropolitan of Lviv, Myroslav Ivan Cardinal Lubachivsky; Were co-consecrators January Martyniak, Bishop of Przemysl and Philemon Kurchaba CSsR, Auxiliary Bishop of Lviv.

2000 he was appointed first bishop of the newly created Eparchy Stry, which united with Rome Greek Catholic Church of Ukraine. Due to his state of health appointed by the Holy See in January 2010 Taras Senkiv Apostolic Administrator ad nutum Sanctae Sedis.
