Julie Powell

Julie Powell (born 20 April 1973 in Austin, Texas ) is an American author, she was known for her book Julie & Julia: 365 days, 524 recipes, 1 tiny kitchen.

Life

Born and raised in Austin, Texas, she attended Amherst College, where she graduated in 1995 with a double major in theater and creative writing. Julie Powell now lives with her husband Eric in New York City borough of Queens.

Career

While she was working in August 2002 for the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation as a temporary worker, Powell began to boil with the Julie / Julia Project, a blog in which she described her attempt all of the recipes from Julia Childs Mastering the Art of French Cooking in a year. The blog had quickly a large following, and Powell signed a book deal with Little, Brown and Company. The blog is no longer online. The book that emerged from it, Julie & Julia: 365 days, 524 recipes, 1 tiny kitchen, came out in 2005 it was awarded as the best on a weblog or a site -based work with the Lulu Blooker Prize 2006..

The film adaptation of the book, from a screenplay by Nora Ephron, is additionally based on Julia Child's autobiography My Life in France and arrived in August 2009 under the title of Julie & Julia in theaters. Julie Powell is here played by Amy Adams.

Powell's second book, Cleaving: a Story of Marriage, Meat, and Obsession, in which she describes details of an affair she had while she published her first book, which is not mentioned in the film, was released in December 2009 in English.
