Julius Exner

Johann Julius Exner ( born November 30, 1825 Copenhagen, † November 15, 1910 ) was a Danish painter.

With 15 years Exner came in 1840 at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts of his native city, where he was inter alia Student the painter Johann Ludwig Lund and Christoffer Wilhelm Eckerberg. Already during his studies Exner undertook several study trips; inter alia, through Germany, Switzerland, Italy and Sweden.

Influenced by his teacher portraits and historical subjects from the history of his country in Lund Early works were a major focus. When he had then found his own style, Lund themed almost exclusively the Scandinavian folk life. On his trips Zealand, the island of Amager and also by various tracts of land in Sweden Lund observed very closely the lives of people and those impressions of " land and people " were the basis for his often executed with fine humor works.
