Julius Perlis

Julius Perlis ( born January 19, 1880 in Białystok, Russian Poland, † September 11, 1913 at Hochtor - east ridge, Ennstaler Alps) was an Austrian chess master.

Julius Perlis studied from 1898 to 1902 Law at the University of Vienna and was built in 1903 for Dr. jur. doctorate. From 1905 to 1908 he worked as a trainee in a law firm in Vienna. He settled as a lawyer in Vienna. Here he indulged his hobby chess often at Café Central. He participated in a total of 13 Masters tournaments, the tournament in Barmen 1905 he finished 4th, 1909 in Saint Petersburg the 7th Place.

In 1910 he lost a match against Spielmann only marginally with one win, two losses and two drawn games.

He celebrated his biggest success in 1912 in the strong field tournament of San Sebastian. Here he finished 5th and reached against the tournament winner Rubinstein twice and draw against second-placed Nimzowitsch a win and a draw. Perlis was also involved in chess composition.

In 1913, he got lost during a hike in the Alps Ennstaler freezing to death.
