Július Satinský

Július Satinský ( born August 20, 1941 in Bratislava, † December 29, 2002 ) was a Slovak writer, actor and show host on radio and television.

Life

His acting talent was already evident during his school days in 1958 he won the competition in reciting the poems " Hviezdoslavov Kubin ". Although he got a pedagogical training, he never practiced this profession. At the dramatic Faculty 1962-1966, he studied drama and worked as a dramaturge in the years 1964 - 1967 in the Czechoslovak Television in Bratislava. After studying acting at the Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts in Bratislava in 1959, he began a career on the side of Milan Lasica, with whom he formed a comedy duo on stage and in film. Until the late 1960s, they had their performances in the theater Divadlo na korze, today Astorka Korzo 90

After the Prague Spring of 1968 it was temporarily banned the duo to appear in the Slovak part of Czechoslovakia. Therefore, for two years they played in the Moravian town of Brno. Between 1972 and 1978, was Satinský member of the music ensembles and between 1978 and 1980 a member of the acting troupe of the theater Nová scéna and Korzo 90 in Bratislava. When it was the duo in 1982 allowed to occur again, they moved into the newly established theater Štúdio S, whose director was Lasica.

Satinský was known not only as an actor and comedian, but also as a presenter of radio and television shows and as a guest speaker, who to talk to his listeners questions of democracy and civil society through the whole of Slovakia was driving. He has also written memoirs about his childhood and student years in Bratislava and numerous feature articles. On 2 January 2002, he was awarded the State Prize of the Slovak Republic, the Pribinov Cross First Class, Slovak for his lifelong contribution to art and its support for democracy. The Slovak Astronomical Society has the comet 15946 Satinský named after him, which was discovered on January 8, 1998.
