Junior Raglin

Junior Raglin, actually Alvin Raglin, ( born March 16, 1917 in Omaha, Nebraska, † November 10, 1955 in Boston ) was an American jazz bassist.

Junior Raglin already played three years old guitar, later bass. He worked at the beginning of his short career in the jazz band Eugene Coys 1938-1941. In November of that year he released the suffering from tuberculosis Jimmy Blanton from the Duke Ellington Orchestra. Before Blanton went to the hospital, he had a couple of evenings worked with him in tandem to get a feel for the band. Raglin played from 1941 until November 1945 Ellington, then only sporadically ( as a duo with Art Tatum in 1945 and Edmond Hall's Swingtet 1946) and then retired from the jazz scene back.
