Jure Robič

Jure Robič ( born April 10, 1965 in Jesenice, † September 24, 2010 ) was a Slovenian cyclist and endurance athletes. He was the Race Across America five times decide for itself the first participant.

Biography

Robič denied as a young man cycling for small Slovenian team. 1989, 1990 and 1992, he was Slovenian champion in the road race. In 1999, he took her by the Australian Crocodile Trophy in his first endurance race and finished third. On 19 September 2004, he broke with a total of 834.77 kilometers, the then 24 - hour world record and in 2005 he won the inaugural Tour Ultime.

Became known as Robič record winner of the Race Across America, which he won in 2004, 2005, 2007, 2008 and 2010. In 2004, he put the 4761.2 kilometers back in eight days and came up with a sofa stint of only eight hours.

Robič came on 24 September 2010 during the training on a forest road in his home town of Jesenice killed when he collided with a car on his bike.

Robič was a professional soldier of the Slovenian Armed Forces.
