Jürgen Banzer

Jürgen Banzer ( born April 17, 1955 in Würzburg ) is a German lawyer and politician ( CDU). From 5 February 2009 to 31 August 2010, he held the office of the Hessian Minister of Labour, Family and Health, since 2005 after he was Minister of Justice of the State of Hesse. 2008-2009, he was also entrusted with the management nor the Hessian Ministry of Culture.

Education and work

Jürgen Banzer was born in 1955 in Würzburg. In Frankfurt, he attended the Lessing Gymnasium, and then the College of St. Blaise in the Southern Black Forest. He made his Abitur in Königstein im Taunus at the Catholic Bishop Neumann School. He then studied law and economics at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main and Catholic theology and philosophy at the Jesuit -run of Philosophy and Theology Sankt Georgen Graduate School in Frankfurt am Main. In the period 1984-1991 Jürgen Banzer worked as a lawyer in Oberursel.

Family

Jürgen Banzer is childless married to Monika Banzer, who works as a lawyer.

Policy

Banzer is a member of the Christian Democratic Union of Germany ( CDU) since 1971. 1976 to 1980 he was county chairman of the Junge Union in Hochtaunuskreis. He was regional chairman of the ring of Christian Democratic Students ( RCDS ) and at times also a member of the Students' Parliament of the University of Frankfurt.

In 1982 he was county chairman of the CDU Hoch-Taunus and remained there until 1984, when he moved to the State Executive Committee of the CDU Hesse, whose member he is today. He is also since 2003, county chairman of the CDU.

In the period from 1981 to 1991 Banzer was a city councilor in his hometown of Oberursel. From 1981 to 1985 he also held the presidency of the main and Financial Committee of the District of Hochtaunuskreises and was from 1985 to 1991 and Chairman of the CDU - council fraction.

Of 5 February 1991 to 23 November 2005, Jürgen Banzer worked as a full-time Chief Executive of the Hochtaunuskreises (for the election results see elections in Hochtaunuskreis ). 2001 was a circular wide "volunteering agency" set up under his direction that supports volunteering. As a district administrator, he has initiated the school construction and renovation program of the Hochtaunuskreises with more than 500 million euros. Banzer sat particular, but without success, for the merger of the Hochtaunuskreises and the Main- Taunus district one. In addition, he engaged successfully for the municipalization of state authorities of the lower administrative level (eg, the lower water authorities ).

On 23 November 2005, Jürgen Banzer State Minister of the State of Hesse and Member of the Hesse state government under Prime Minister Roland Koch. With the Office of the State Minister following offices were connected to Jürgen Banzer:

  • Deputy member of the German - Russian Friendship Group for the State of Hesse.

In the state elections in Hesse in 2008 27 January 2008 Jürgen Banzer settled in as a directly elected constituency member of the constituency Hoch-Taunus II in the Hesse state parliament. Also, in the preferred state election in Hesse in 2009, he won his constituency sovereign.

After the regional elections of 2009, the FDP claimed the Ministry Banzer and could stand up too. Jürgen Banzer was therefore appointed on 5 February 2009 to the Minister of Labour, Family and Health of the State of Hesse. Shortly after taking office, he renamed the Ministry of Social Affairs to the "Ministry of Labour, Family and Health" to. Following the resignation of Prime Minister Roland Koch, he was in the new state government under Volker Bouffier not a new minister, but remained Member of Parliament and Chairman of the Commission of Inquiry migration and integration of the Hesse Landtag.

Banzer committed since 2002 volunteer for the German Red Cross in Circle Association Hoch-Taunus, whose chairman he is.
