Jürgen Barth

Jürgen Barth ( born December 10, 1947 in Thum ) is a former German race car driver.

Jürgen Barth is the son of the German racer Edgar Barth and was in the 1970s and 1980s, one of the world's best sports car drivers. Throughout his career he was closely associated with the Porsche brand. He continued, during his races almost exclusively vehicles from Porsche, the company was also a test driver of road vehicles and later racing manager for the Auto Racing work assignments. His greatest successes came in endurance racing, including in 1977, he won the 24 Hours of Le Mans and 1980 together with Rolf Stommelen 1000 km on the Nürburgring.

Together with the two Frenchmen Stéphane Ratel and Patrick Peter Barth founded in 1994 BPR race series (BPR for Barth, Peter, Ratel ) for GT respectively Grand Tourismo racing cars from the 1997 forerunner of the FIA GT Championship. Since 2007, Barth organized jointly with the ADAC ADAC GT Masters race series for sports cars, which will be held under the FIA ​​GT3 regulations.
