Reinhold Joest

Reinhold Joest ( born April 24, 1937) is a former German race car driver and owner of Joest Racing.

Career

His racing career began Joest 1962. Until 1967 he played mainly uphill races and was twice German masters. In 1966, he moved gradually on circular courses and celebrated his first success at the 1000 -kilometer race at the Nürburgring. 1970 and 1980, he was the overall winner in this race six times, he managed to class victory. 1971 Joest was added to the Porsche factory team, where he also reached almost everything except a Le Mans victory. In 1969 he became the Ford GT40 at Le Mans sixth, third in the 1972 Porsche 908/ 2 Long tail. In 1978, his own racing team Joest Joest Racing, where he is team manager, but in the first three years also even raced. 1978 and 1980 he finished in second place in each Porsche 936 at Le Mans. Joest won the Inter series, several rounds of the World Sportscar Championship in 1980 and also the 24 - hour race at Daytona. In 1981, together with Jochen Mass Joest in Kyalami his last race as an active racer. He then ended his career.

Since 1984 Joest won with his team the 24 Hours of Le Mans already twelve times.
