Jürgen Groh

Jürgen " Joschi " Groh ( born July 17, 1956 in Heppenheim ) is a former German football player.

Career

His athletic career began as a child with his hometown club Starkenburgia Heppenheim. At age 18, he moved to VfR Buerstadt, with whom he celebrated in 1975 the title of German amateur champion. His professional career began in 1976 at the 1st FC Kaiserslautern. In 1980 he moved to Hamburger SV. Here he was a fixture in the game system of coach Ernst Happel. With the HSV twice he was German champion in 1982 reached the final of the UEFA Cup, which lost his team against IFK Gothenburg and won the 1983 final of the European Champion Clubs' Cup against Juventus. In 1985 Groh for six months in Turkey, where he played as the first German player at Trabzonspor. Then he returned to Germany and joined again the 1st FC Kaiserslautern.
