Justus Ludwig Adolf Roth

Justus Ludwig Adolf Roth ( born September 15, 1818 in Hamburg, † April 1, 1892 ) was a German geologist.

Roth devoted himself first of pharmacy and was 1844-48 owner of a pharmacy in Hamburg. Then he went to Berlin as a private citizen and in 1867 professor at the University of Berlin. He has published mainly from topics of crystallography and Volcanology and wrote at the age of two volumes on chemical geology.

Also, Roth involved in the geological mapping of Silesia, wrote for the progress of physics annual reports on physical geography and gave Eilhard Mitscherlichs bequeathed work On the volcanic phenomena in the Eifel (Berlin 1865) out.
