Kaag

Kaag, also De Kaag, is a place (village) on the eponymous island of Kaag in the Dutch province of South Holland. Administratively, the city belongs to the municipality of Kaag en Braassem. The village is about 8 km northeast of Leiden on the island in Kagerplassen Lake, which was previously connected directly in front of draining the Haarlemmermeer. In 2012, Kaag had 328 inhabitants. The island is accessible only by a ferry that runs between Buitenkaag and the island of Kaag.

Known worldwide, the name was founded in 1949 by the Kaag there Shipyard " Feadship " which since 2008 to the French luxury brand group LVMH Moët Hennessy - Louis Vuitton SA heard. Feadship is one of the most exclusive shipyards in the world and manufactures specialty yachts. Henry Ford had a Feadship in Kaag, as well as Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, King Khalid of Saudi Arabia and Apple founder Steve Jobs. The Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich was there make his motor yacht Sussurro.
