Kaipa

Kaipa is a Swedish band that plays progressive rock with folk strikes.

Band History

Kaipa was founded in 1973 by keyboardist Hans Lundin, bassist Tomas Eriksson and drummer Thomas Sjöberg as Ura Kaipa. After two informal concerts in prisons in the region Thomas Sjöberg ill with cancer, so he finally had to leave the group. His place was occupied by Ingemar Bergman. With the addition of guitarist Roine Stolt, who was then only 17 years old, the classic Kaipa occupation was complete. In the summer of 1974, eventually was renamed Kaipa. It is worth mentioning that the lyrics of the band were written in Swedish.

In 1975 the album was released Kaipa, which will focus on Hans Lundin had driven texts and compositionally. A year later, the album came Inget nytt under solen ( German: Nothing new under the sun) out. These here is over 20 minutes long piece Skenet bedrar as well as the written Roine Stolt of the title track, which many times also occurred in part as Nothing New Under The Sun in the live repertoire of the Flower Kings.

After Solo Kaipa underwent several changes in the cast. There are two albums - Händer and Nattdjurstid - published before the group disbanded in 1982.

In 2000, Kaipa was revived by Hans Lundin and Roine Stolt. Together with vocalist Patrik Lundström, bassist Jonas Reingold and drummer Morgan Ågren they played the album Notes from the past, which was published in 2002 and, unlike the title suggests, contains only new material. A year later the album key holder and in 2005 they released their last album for the time being with long-term member Roine Stolt, Mindrevolutions. The following albums Angling feelings and In the Wake of Evolution is only Hans Lundin as original member on board. As can be seen in the albums tracks, now English was used as the language. Stylistically knüpften the new Kaipa to the progressive rock of the 1970s. Here they are, however, sometimes accused of cold and calculated to sound.
