Inget nytt under solen ( Swedish for 'Nothing new under the sun ") is the second studio album by the Swedish progressive rock band Kaipa. It was released in 1976 on Decca Records.

Creation and publication

After the self-titled debut album in December 1975, a tour in the spring of 1976, the band is said to have repeatedly ruled shortly before the dissolution, as the musicians were driven by perfectionism and could not agree on rhythmic details in samples. But the end of June went Kaipa into the studio to record new material sämtliches since the debut album. The compositions derived almost exclusively by Hans Lundin and Roine Stolt. The title of the album goes back to a question of the President of Kaipas former label Elektra.

Musea put Inget nytt under solen 1993 scratch. The bonus tracks were from English- admissions of other tracks on the album, a live version and an older unreleased piece. The album was also included in the box set The Decca Years 1975-1978 by InsideOut Music in 2005.

Style

Kaipa play on the album varied symphonic progressive rock with Clavinet, Fender Rhodes, Hammond organ, Mellotron and distinctive Rickenbacker bass. There are many melodic solos and elegant, " spacey " (or " oblique " ) and bombastic passages. Despite occasional breaks, the structures are usually not very complex. The mood is often melancholy.

Reception

Inget nytt under solen is now considered classics of the Swedish progressive rock. Praises Udo Gerhards of the Baby Blue Pages, the " varied and imaginative [ s ] " compositions and sees a strength Kaipas " in clever and obvious joining of different parts, each of which has its own atmosphere and its own character, but all one unit forms ". Horst Straske verdict: " This is a fantastic progressive rock and it includes everything that makes this Swedish band so unique. "
