Kalervo Tuukkanen

Kalervo Tuukkanen ( born October 14, 1909 in Mikkeli, † 12 July 1979 in Helsinki) was a Finnish composer.

Tuukkanen studied at the University of Helsinki and was a student of Leevi and Ilmari Krohn Madetoja. He was from 1935 to 1938 teacher of music history and theory at the University of Viipuri. From 1942 to 1944 he was Kapellmeister in Pori, after which he lived as a conductor and teacher in Helsinki. In 1945, he was next to Erik Bergman of the founders of the Finnish Composers' Union.

He wrote six symphonies and a symphonic poem, several orchestral suites, two violin concertos and a cello concerto, cantatas, drama, radio play and film music.
