Kamov

Kamov (Russian Фирма Камов / Company Kamov, English Kamov Company) was founded in 1948, was initially a Soviet OKB (experimental design bureau ) and is now a Russian helicopter manufacturer.

History

The company was founded in 1948 as an experimental design bureau ( OKB ). Is named the company after Nikolai Ilyich Kamov, the former chief designer. Since 1992 it operates as Kamov JSC ( Joint Stock Company Russian joint-stock company ). It continues to develop and produce civilian, military and special helicopter.

The special feature of the Kamov helicopter ( with the exception of the Ka -60) is their coaxial system counter-rotating twin rotors. this

  • Take a moment balance at the rear superfluous,
  • Reduce the risk of injury to maintenance personnel or bystanders and
  • Avoid the power loss when driving the rear rotor.

The disadvantage of this construction is the higher maintenance costs on the rotor head, wherein the upper swash plate to be controlled by the lower.
