57b project or project 57bis, designated by NATO as the Krupny class was a class of destroyer of the Soviet Navy. After removal of obsolete missiles, the Navy changed the name to Project 57A and NATO, which registered the removal of the anti-ship missiles, in turn, changed the name to Kanin class.

History

The ships of the class were the first guided missile destroyer of the Soviet Navy. Eight units were built, a further but aborted on the slipway.

Three ships of the class served in the Pacific fleet, four in the Northern Fleet and one in the Baltic Fleet.

From 1966 to 1978 eight ships were rebuilt and modernized for anti-submarine. They received, among other new weapons system and electronics, these ships have been designated by NATO as the Kanin class in the USSR they received 57b the identification project.

Even before the end of the Soviet Union, the ships were all put in reserve or scrapped directly. 1992 there was no longer in service.

Technology

The ships of the class emerged as an improved version of Kotlin -Class, with which they had the machinery together. In comparison, the ships of the Krupny class had the first missile systems on board a Soviet destroyer.

This also fire control and radar systems were installed that were not previously used. After their main armament had been viewed 1965 SS -N-1 Scrubber as too weak, the ships were gradually rebuilt after the submarine hunt. They received more water bomb System type RBU -6000 and the matching SONAR systems.
