Kankrej cattle and Guzerat cattle

The Kankrej cattle are a Zebu breed of cattle from the area Kankrej in the state of Gujarat in India.

The Kankrej beef is a dual-purpose breed for meat production and as a draft animal. It is large and has long horns. The bulls are darker on the head and the front legs; the rest of the body is lighter.

Kankrej cattle are one of the main breeds that were used for the breeding of the American Brahman cattle, together with the Guzerats, the Gir and the Nelores.

Like all Zebus show the Kankrej all the advantages in the tropics and semi- tropics: good heat tolerance and disease resistance.
