Kapaz PFK

The PFK Kəpəz (Russian ПФК Кяпаз / Kjapas PFK ) is an Azerbaijani football club from the city of Ganja.

History

The playing in blue and yellow club was founded in 1959 under the name Textilschtschik Kirovabad, when the city ganja still bore the name Kirovabad. 1962 saw the name change to Dinamo Kirovabad. 1968, the club played under that name also a season in the top Soviet football league, but then had to cut off the descent compete on the bottom of the table after just one season. In 1975, the club in Progress Kirovabad was renamed in 1982 was followed by another name change to Kjapas Kirovabad. In 1989, the city Kirovabad back its old name, so you aground as Kjapas Ganja.

With the independence of Azerbaijan and the introduction of the Azerbaijani Latin alphabet, the spelling of the club changed again, to PFK Kəpəz. After the collapse of the Soviet Union their football league was dissolved, so that you played from 1992 in the newly formed Azerbaijani Football League. There FK Ganja won three championships, most recently in the season 1998 /99. In the 1997/98 season one was even undefeated champion.
