The Karaj (Persian رود کرج, DMG Rūd -e Karaǧ ) is a 245 km long river in northern Iran. After the Zayandeh of Karaj is the main river of the central Iranian plateau. It rises in the Alborz mountain range in the Caspian Sea, flows south through the city of Karaj by the same name and opens later in the salty Namaksee. Course

The Karaj drains a 2800 km ² large area and leads on average per year to 499 million m³ of water. Along its length, the flow on a slope of 0.8%.
