Karakoyunlu

Karakoyunlu (Kurdish: Têşberûn ) is a town and a district of the province Iğdır in eastern Turkey. The town has 2,620 inhabitants and the county 14,054 inhabitants ( 2011). Karakoyunlu located in the north Iğdırs and is the smallest district of the province. It has a common border with Armenia. Karakoyunlu has two mahalla ( Turkish Mahalle ) and 14 villages. Until 1972 Karakoyunlu was a village. 1992 the town was elevated to the rank of the district.
