Karel Zeman

Karel Zeman ( born November 3, 1910 in Ostroměř, † April 5, 1989 in Prague) was a Czech film director.

Karel Zeman sat in his films an innovative knitting technology by linking real scenes with actors with animated sequences and began special effects. He is considered one of the founders of the Czech animated film. Originally working as a decorator in an advertising studio, he gets to know the animation and creates first animations. In parallel, he designed the popular comic strip character " Prokouk the bureaucrat ." In 1945 he presents his first cartoon ago: " Christmas Dream " (Czech: Vánoční sen). Among his best known films include " Baron Munchausen " and inspired by Jules Verne films " A Deadly Invention ", " The Stolen Airship " and " On the comet ." For his feature film " Go back in time " about its formation, a film documentary was filmed, Zeman received the 1955 Award for the Best Children's Film Film Festival of Venice. His final resting place is located on the forest cemetery Zlín.
