Karen Gillan

Karen Sheila Gillan (born 28 November 1987 in Inverness ) is a Scottish actress and former fashion model. Notoriety she gained for her role as Amy Pond in the British cult television series Doctor Who.

Life and career

Gillan grew up in Inverness, Scotland. Her father, Raymond John and her mother Marie live in Kinmylies. At the age of sixteen, she decided to study acting at Edinburgh 's Telford College. Later, she secured a place at the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts in London.

Gillan had while she was still studying her first role in Rebus at the Italia Conti. Next she played among others in The Kevin Bishop Show, Stacked and James Nesbitt's film Outcast. At times she was modeling, so for example at the 2007 London Fashion Week for Allegra Hicks ' autumn / winter collection.

From 2010 to 2012 Gillan played the role of Amy Pond - the companion of the eleventh doctor - in the British cult television series Doctor Who. Her role, she also speaks in the Doctor Who computer games. Gillan was seen as early as 2008 in the Doctor Who episode The Fires of Pompeii in a supporting role as a fortune teller.
