Karen Mnatsakanyan

Karen Mnazakanjan ( born March 3, 1977 in Yerevan ) is a former Armenian wrestler. In 2001 he was vice-champion in the bantamweight and 1997 European champion bantamweight and 2006 European champion at featherweight, respectively in Greco- Roman style.

Career

Karen Mnazakanjan began as a teenager in 1988 with the rings, focusing on the Greco- Roman style. As an adult he joined the army and became a member of the Sport Club Dinamo Yerevan. He was trained mainly by Georgi Kozharjan and Samvel Gevorkyan. Later he studied sports science at Staatl. Institute of Sport Sciences in Yerevan. He was 1.73 meters for the bantamweight, where he struggled early in his career, relatively large. After a weight class redistricting by the FILA he wrestled from 2002 then at featherweight.

He already took the junior age participated in a number of international championships and was there also quite successful. Immediately on his first start in such a Championship, the Junior World Championship ( Cadet age group ) in Lünen / Germany he became Junior World Champion (Age Group Juniors) in the weight class up to 60 kg. In 1995 he was in Witten / Germany European junior champion bantamweight before Peter Ronai from Hungary and Bunyamin EMIK, Turkey.

In 1997, Karen Mnazakanjan the feat even in his first start with the seniors to win a championship. He was in May this year in Kouvola / Finland European champion bantamweight, and defeated it Grzegorz Szyszka, Poland, Rustem Mambetow, Russia, Ergüder Belkisdamat, Turkey and Djamel Ainaoui, France. A month later he was back in Istanbul European Junior Champion (Age Group Juniors) in the weight class up to 60 kg. At the Junior World Cup 1997 ( Juniors age group ) in Turku, he lost his first fight against equal Dovletberdy Mamedov, Turkmenistan. Since this did not reach the final, he was eliminated and finished only 32nd place. A placement that certainly did not meet his actual skills, but which is due to the strange rules.

Karen won the 1999 Mnazakanjan at the European Championships in Sofia a bronze medal in the bantamweight, where he had to put in a semi-final defeat against Valeri Nikinorow from Russia. In the 1999 World Cup in Athens, he lost to two won fights against Kim In -sub from South Korea and came by it only to 15th place. In 2000, he managed to qualify in two tournaments in Clermont -Ferrand and in Tashkent, where he won the tournament even, for participation in the Olympic Games in Sydney. In Sydney, but he lost both fights bantamweight that he denied and indeed against Igor Petrenko, Belarus and James Grunwald from the United States. He therefore came only to 15th place.

After a ninth place finish at the European Championships in 2001 in Istanbul, where Şeref Eroğlu from Turkey bantamweight champion was Karen Mnazakanjan trumpte at the World Championships this year in Patras at large. He defeated there bantamweight Norbert Futo, Yugoslavia, Yuri Estevas, Brazil, Kang Kyung- il, South Korea and the Olympic champion and multiple world champion arms Nasarjan, a starting for Bulgaria Armenian compatriot, whom he beat 5-4 points. He was thus in the final Dilshod Aripow from Uzbekistan over, lost that fight but with 3:6 points. He thus became Vice World Champion.

After this success, he dosed his starts at the international championships. At the European Championships in Seinäjoki / Finland him reach featherweight three wins before losing to poor Nasarjan and somewhat surprisingly well against Djamel Ainaoui and thus slipped to 4th place. Qualifying for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens he did not succeed, but in 2006 he reached again a big success. He was this year in Moscow for the second time European champions. In featherweight he defeated Tomasz doing Swierk, Poland, Fuad Aliyev, Azerbaijan, Alexei Wakulenko, Ukraine and Dawit Bedinadse, Georgia.

In 2008, he then again after qualifying for the Olympics. However, in Beijing he came back not cope well, lost like his first fight against Makoto Sasamoto of Japan and thus left because Sasamoto not reached the final. He came by it only to 17th place.
