Karim Maroc

Karim Maroc (Arabic كريم ماروك; born March 5, 1958 in Tonnay -Charente, France ) is a former Algerian football player. He completed 15 games for the Algerian national team.

Club career

Maroc grew up in the West France Charente and began his career at a club from Saintes. In 1976 he moved to first division club Olympique Lyon, where he had great competition with players like Serge Chiesa. In his third season he was able to finally establish itself on the left, looked on this position for no great opportunities. Then he had to borrow for the next season to Angers, where he completed a very successful season. After his return to Lyon, he found his place in the first place on the bench, but still scored nine goals. In 1981, he decided to change and found in the FC Tours a new employer. In a team with Delio Onnis he scored in the first season there ten goals, which is his personal record. However, he left after Tours and changed in 1982 to Stade Brest. After three years, his contract was not renewed, whereupon Maroc found a new employer in second division side Montpellier HSC. After a year in Montpellier, he moved to the Spanish second division side CD Logroñés, which a year later reached the climb. But Maroc moved to his native Algeria, where he played from 1987 for the MC Oran. 1988 and 1992 he won with his club the Algerian Cup, in 1989 he reached the final of the CAF Champions League, where the team failed to Raja Casablanca of Morocco. In 1992, he finished his career. In total he completed in France 217 top-flight appearances (42 goals).

National

Maroc 1982 celebrated his debut for Algeria, as on April 25 in a friendly match against Peru it. For the World Cup squad in 1982, he was also considered, but not used. On February 25, 1986, he scored against Mozambique his first of two international goals. At the World Cup in the same year he played twice.
