Karisma Kapoor

Karisma Kapoor (Hindi: करिश्मा कपूर, Karisma Kapur, Karishma Kapur, born June 25, 1974 in Mumbai, India) is an Indian film actress. In India it is also known under the name of Lolo, based on the Italian actress Gina Lollobrigida.

Kapoor is a member of the Kapoor acting dynasty that is deeply rooted in the Hindi film industry. Her mother is actress Babita Kapoor, her younger sister is Kareena Kapoor, her father Randhir Kapoor is an actor, her grandfather is the legendary producer, director and actor Raj Kapoor, and her great-grandfather Prithviraj Kapoor was an actor.

After their regular school Karisma Kapoor went to the Sophia College in Mumbai, but left school without a degree to work in the film industry. Her first film role was played by Kapoor in 1991 in the film Prem Qaidi. In the 1990s she starred in several successful comedies. Towards the end of the decade they could consolidate their career success with two films. For her role in Raja Hindustani 1996 she was awarded a Filmfare Award. For her supporting role in Dil To Pagal Hai in 1997, she received several Indian film awards: a National Film Award, a Filmfare Award and a Zee Cine Award. For her roles in the films Fiza and Zubeidaa they also received awards.

Kapoor married industrialist Sanjay Kapur 2003. After the birth of their daughter, she took a long break. Since 2006 she has been to see them again on the screen.
