Karl Blodig

Karl Blodig ( born October 16, 1859 in Vienna, † September 7, 1956 in Bregenz ) was an Austrian mountaineer, eye doctor and journalist.

Life

Karl Blodig was one of the outstanding personalities of his time climbers. Blodig 1911 was the first who had climbed all four peaks of the Alps to his own, then undisputed counting the summit, some of them first. He tells about it in his book The Four peaks in the Alps. The work, first published in 1923 is a classic alpine literature.

On his tours he was partially accompanied by his climbing team, the English landscape painter E. T. Compton.
