Karl Christian Johann Holsten

Karl Christian Johann Holsten ( born March 31, 1825 Güstrow † January 26, 1897 in Heidelberg ) was a Protestant theologian and professor in Bern and Heidelberg.

Life

Holsten studied since 1843 at the universities of Leipzig, Berlin and Rostock theology and philology.

Since 1852 in Rostock teacher at the high school, he received his doctorate in 1853 for Dr. theol. et phil. As a teacher of religion, Greek and German, he remained eighteen years at the school.

As a result of his work to the Gospel of Paul and Peter (Rostock 1868) he was appointed in 1870 as associate professor of theology at the Gymnasium Church field in Bern. The University of Bern in 1871 created for him a full professorship. In 1876 he was appointed professor at the University of Heidelberg, where he taught until his death.

Since 1843 he was a member of the Corps Misnia and Vandalia Rostock.
