Karl Elbs
Karl Joseph Xaver Elbs (* September 13, 1858 in Alt - Breisach, † August 24, 1933 ) was a German chemist.
Elbs received his doctorate at the University of Freiburg. His doctoral advisor was Karl Ludwig Adolf Claus. He taught and then conducted research at the University of Giessen.
The Elbs oxidation is named after Karl Elbs and was described in 1893 by him.
