Karl Heinrich von Hoym

Carl Heinrich Graf von Hoym (* June 18, 1694 in Dresden, † April 22, 1736 at the fortress Königstein ) was a Royal Polish and Electoral Saxon diplomat and cabinet minister.

Life

From the noble Hoym coming he was the youngest son of Ludwig Gebhard Freiherr von Hoym (1631-1711) and was baptized on June 19, 1694 in the chapel of Dresden.

He was Baron von Hoym since birth and was raised on July 18, 1711 together with his three brothers Adolph Magnus, Carl Siegfried and Ludwig Gebhard in the Imperial Count. By the will of his father he came in 1711 in the possession of the village Spremberg in Upper Lusatia and the Saxon town of New Salza, today Spremberg, both left to him to 1736. With a mandate from the Saxon state government in Dresden on February 13, 1737 Hoymschen these goods came into receivership, which was repealed after payment of 70,000 thalers in 1741. Spremberg and New Salza took over now to 1768 Carl Gotthelf Count of Hoym.

As a proponent of an anti- imperial alliance with France and the maritime powers of Saxony Carl Heinrich von Hoym fell several times at court in disgrace and was initially banned, later imprisoned twice under different pretexts.

Hoym committed suicide in 1736 in his cell at the fortress Königstein suicide.
