Karl Josef von Bachmann

Karl Josef Anton Leger by Bachmann ( born December 3, 1734 Naefels; † September 3, 1792 in Paris) was a Swiss Field Marshal in the French service and the brother of Niklaus Franz von Bachmann.

As major of the Swiss Guards of Paris, which had in 1792 defended the Tuileries Palace in Paris, he was sentenced to death and guillotined. His name is listed second at the Lion of Lucerne Monument. With the Tuileries, the Swiss Guards in France went under, as at the end were Glarus officers at the beginning.
