Karl Wendling

Karl Wendling ( born August 10, 1875 in Strasbourg, † March 27, 1962 in Stuttgart ) was a German violinist and music teacher.

Wendling first studied at the Strasbourg Conservatory with Heinrich Schuster Florián Zajíc and later in Berlin with Carl Halir and Joseph Joachim. Since 1902 he was concertmaster at the Bayreuth Festival, in the years 1907 and 1908, Concertmaster of the Boston Symphony Orchestra under Karl Muck. In 1909 he became a professor at the Conservatory Stuttgart, whose director he was from 1929 to 1940 and where he taught until 1945.

Wendling was particularly appreciated as a quartet player, which he led Wendling Quartet appeared in Europe in numerous concerts very successfully.
