Karsten Nied

Karsten Nied ( born August 8, 1969) is a former German football player.

Playing career

Karsten Nied played in 1975 in the youth teams of Hertha BSC. From 1988 Nied belonged then to the second team of Hertha. With this he should make in the season 1992/93 DFB Cup furore when he entered with the Hertha - Bubis to the finals. On the way, among other things, defending champion Hanover, 96 (4:3) and the Bundesliga club 1.FC Nürnberg (2-1) defeated. In the semifinals, the team had to switch to the Berlin Olympic Stadium, as 56 540 spectators wanted to see the match against FC Chemnitz. By 2-1, the amateurs secured the final participation in itself place. Karsten Nied led his team, in the later league player Christian Fiedler, Carsten Ramelow and Oliver and Andreas Schmidt stood as a captain in the final against Bayer 04 Leverkusen. There lost Hertha Amateurs by a late goal by Ulf Kirsten 0:1.

After a total of 18 years at Hertha Karsten Nied left the club in the summer of 1993. Nied then went to Tennis Borussia Berlin, but both there and at FC Gütersloh, where he moved a year later, he was unable to repeat his performance at Hertha.

In 1996 he signed a contract then the Spandau SV. When SSV he played one season before he extended his contract in 1997.

Coaching career

Following his career as a player Karsten Nied was for many years an assistant coach at the 1 FC Wilmersdorf.
