Karuo culture

The Kharro - site is one by the village Karub ( Tib: mkhar ro, Tibetan: མཁར་རོ་, Kharro or Chinese Karuo (卡 若 遗址, Karuo Yizhi, English Karuo site or Karub site) designated archaeological site and a important Neolithic locality in the district of Qamdo (Ch Changdu昌都 县) of the administrative district Qamdo in the Tibet Autonomous Region in the People's Republic of China. Kharro is located about ten kilometers south of the large village Qamdo.

The 1978-1979 excavated site covers an area of 10,000 square meters and is considered by archaeologists as one of the three "Tibetan aboriginal cultural relics ". It is dated to the period from 3200-2000 BC.

Houses foundations, cave houses, paved roads, stone walls, stone altars and pits were excavated in the well-preserved site and a large number of stoneware, pottery, bone and other goods provided with ornaments articles were discovered there.

Since 1996, the Kharro - site is on the monuments of the People's Republic of China ( 4-19 ).

Clay Pot

One in Kharro excavated, crafted from yellow clay and fine sand, clay pot is an unusual relic of the Neolithic. Its surface is decorated with incisions and black paint, and his body is in the form of two animals facing each other.
