Kaschenbach

Kaschenbach is a municipality in the district of Bitburg -Prüm, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Irrel.

Geography

Kaschenbach lies in the so -called White country in the lower reaches of the river Nims, 10 km south of Bitburg. The municipality also includes the living space Lehnshof.

History

The first documentary mention as " Kirsenbach " comes from the year 1258, possibly Kaschenbach is also identical to the Crispiniacum mentioned in the 9th century. As a result of the turmoil of the Thirty Years War and the subsequent wars with France were in Kaschenbach 1658, only a single population. However, of this crisis, the place was recovering well, in 1750 there were again seven houses and four courtyards and in the course of the 19th century passed Kaschenbach the 100 -inhabitant mark; However, the population has since declined significantly, mainly due to the rural exodus again.

By the end of the 18th century Kaschenbach belonged to the provost Echternach in Duchy of Luxembourg ( district Echternach ). In 1794, French revolutionary troops had the Austrian Netherlands, to which the region was occupied at that time. Under the French administration of the site from 1795 to the district Bitburg belonged in the department of forests. 1815 Kaschenbach became Prussian and assigned to the mayor's Alsdorf in the district of Bitburg. Kaschenbach is considered a village, in which the basic forms of the medieval order of the ground floor goods have been preserved to our time.
