Katarzyna Sobczyk

Katarzyna Sobczyk ( civil Casimire Sawicka; born February 21, 1945 in Tyczyn, † July 28, 2010 in Warsaw) was a Polish pop singer.

Life

Katarzyna Sobczyk was born in Tyczyn and attended Primary School No. 4 in Koszalin. Later she attended a music school and traveled for concert performance not only in Poland but also abroad. In 1963 she took part in the competition Szukamy Mlodych talentów ( German We are looking for young talent ) and was able to place in the top ten. The following year she was the singer of the group Czerwono - Czarni ( red-black ). With this group she could się 1964 at the Music Festival in Opole ( Krajowy Festiwal Piosenki Polskiej w Opolu ) with O mnie never martw ( Do not worry about me ) took first place. In the following year she was able to regain the top spot, this time with the song Never wiem czy to Warto ( I do not know if it's worth it ). In 1966 she was on tour abroad in the U.S. and Canada.

In 1969 she left Czerwono - Czarni and founded by Ryszard Poznakowski the group Wiatraki but it quickly fell apart again and toured Katarzyna Sobczyk solo by Poland. In the early 1980s she was again briefly in the United States, but returned to Poland. In 1992 she moved to Chicago in 1998 her husband died Henryk Fabian. 2008 was diagnosed with cancer, and therefore she returned to Poland. On July 28, 2010 Katarzyna Sobczyk died due to their disease.
