Topics

Kate Atkinson's novels and stories revolve around the everyday lives of their people, often families who are struggling with difficulties and suddenly run into heavy water or to the edge of its possibilities. With Case Histories ( The fourth sister, 2004), it introduced the somewhat portly private eye Jackson Brodie and settled their stories closer to the thriller genre to write without dedicated detective novels.

Stylistically, it works in almost all plants with parallel actions that she takes as loose threads through the plot and brings together only at the end, where they lead to amazing resolutions. The bordering at first glance to the fantastic events in their stories meant that you have brought them to the vicinity of magical realism. In addition to a remarkable attention to detail and a penchant for sprawling narrative strands it maintains a supercooled humor that characterizes all their works.
