Käthe Gold

Käthe Gold, actually Katharina Stephanie Gold ( born February 11, 1907 in Vienna, † October 11, 1997 ibid ), was an Austrian actress.

Life and work

The daughter of a Viennese locksmith assistants completed a drama course at the Academy of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. However, she made her debut as a child in Puccini's Madame Butterfly at the Vienna State Opera. Her first appearance as a "real" actress was in 1926 as Bianca in The Taming of the Shrew. Until 1927 she was engaged at the Stadttheater Bern. Further stations were 1928-1931 the praise Theatre in Wroclaw and the Munich Chamber games, where she was engaged until 1935. In 1932 she moved to Berlin, where she remained until 1944. Here she had her breakthrough and celebrated at the Staatstheater their greatest successes: as Gretchen in Goethe's Faust, as Ophelia in Shakespeare's Hamlet and as Nora in Ibsen's A Doll's House. 1944 moved to Zurich Käthe Gold, 1947 to Vienna Burgtheater and Academy Theatre, where she also enjoyed great success.

In the film, she worked as Alcmene Amphitryon in - From the clouds happiness (1935 ), The Lady of Barnhelm (1940 ) and after the war comes in Wolfgang Staudtes Rose Bernd (1957 ) and Hans -Jürgen Syberberg Karl May (1974). In 1985, she took leave of the stage. Her grave is in the cemetery Sieveringer.
